About us
The Florida Center for Child and Family Development is a nationally accredited nonprofit, community-based agency that provides quality programs and services focused on the healthy development of young children, their families, and our community. The Florida Center provides early childhood education and developmental services (speech, occupational, and physical therapy), mental health services for children and families, parent education services, fetal alcohol diagnosis and intervention services, prevention services, and child welfare case management and adoption services.Like most nonprofit organizations, The Florida Center is continuously challenged to raise funds to support our mission. In fact, 100% of our operating budget is funded by contributions from those who value the work we do on behalf of children and their families.
History
The Florida Center for Child and Family Development was formed in 2003 when two prominent, nonprofit, community-based agencies -- Child Development Center (CDC formed in 1974), and Family Counseling Center of Sarasota (FCC formed in 1964) -- merged. This union represents 70 years of providing services geared toward supporting the healthy development of children and families.
Through the union of CDC’s early education and therapeutic services for children primarily from birth to five, and FCC’s expertise in counseling and parenting education to help families cope with divorce, anger, loss and other family-related issues, The Florida Center is able to provide a seamless delivery of services for the “whole” child and his or her family members.
For more than 40 years, the generosity of others has helped make The Florida Center what it is today ... building bright futures for our community’s children and families. We encourage you to visit the center for a tour. For more information, please contact our Chief Development Officer at (941) 371-8820 ext. 1010.
